ChatGPT Selected the Most Profitable Cryptocurrency to Buy in the Second Half of the Year
In 2025, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have shown significant growth and attracted unprecedented institutional interest.
Despite strong performance by both cryptocurrencies since the beginning of the year, they still represent two distinct investment options.
Specifically, Bitcoin remains the primary hedging tool, serving as so-called digital gold, while Ethereum is a popular choice for smart contracts.
To determine which of the two assets might be the better investment this year, the ChatGPT-4.5 tool by OpenAI was consulted.
Currently, BTC is priced at $114,000, with a market capitalization of $2.27 trillion.
ChatGPT emphasized Bitcoin’s position as the dominant crypto asset and a digital store of value.
Institutional demand remains high, as Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) continue to attract capital.
From a regulatory perspective, BTC also has an advantage over altcoins, as it is classified as a commodity in some jurisdictions.
Regarding potential price targets, the AI model predicts that BTC could surpass $120,000 by year-end. However, a significant outflow from ETFs and regulatory hurdles could push the price down to $55,000–$65,000.
The chatbot concluded that Bitcoin is a more rational option for those seeking low volatility, institutional backing, and long-term hedging potential.
Today, Ethereum is trading around $3,650, with a market capitalization of $440 billion.
When analyzing the second-largest cryptocurrency, ChatGPT noted that Ethereum remains a cornerstone of the decentralized applications (dApps) ecosystem.
Its dominance in areas such as DeFi, NFTs, and tokenization continues to grow thanks to EIP-4844 (Proto-Danksharding) upgrades and the expanding layer-2 (L2) ecosystem.
However, Ethereum faces regulatory uncertainty, and it remains unclear whether it may be classified as a security.
As for potential price ranges, AI forecasts that ETH could reach $9,000 if regulatory conditions become more favorable, especially regarding ETH ETFs. But slower staking growth, regulatory ambiguity, and overall altcoin weakness could push the price down to $3,000.
When comparing the two cryptocurrencies, ChatGPT concluded:
-
If your investment strategy focuses on lower volatility and long-term capital preservation, Bitcoin may be the better option for the second half of 2025.
-
However, if you're interested in DeFi, staking, and network innovation, Ethereum is also a strong choice.
