Number of Large BTC Wallets Gradually Increases Amid Price Decline
The number of large Bitcoin holders is increasing despite falling prices, which may indicate an accumulation phase. According to blockchain analytics platform Santiment, the number of wallets holding at least 100 $BTC is approaching 20,000. The growth of large addresses occurs during periods of market uncertainty when retail investors become more cautious and reduce exposure. Analysts note that such behavior has historically often preceded price recovery.
At the current price of about $67.6k, a wallet holding 100 $BTC is worth more than $6.78 million. These assets are typically owned by institutional investors, funds, and long-term holders. The increase in such addresses indicates a broader participation of large market players. At the same time, the growth in the number of these wallets occurs during periods of price weakness, which is considered a potentially positive signal.
Analysts emphasized that an increase in large addresses does not necessarily mean greater centralization. Instead, data shows asset distribution across more participants rather than concentration among a small number of holders. At the same time, capital is being redistributed from smaller investors to more financially stable market participants.
Despite the growth in the number of large holders, their total share of Bitcoin supply has not yet shown a significant increase. Experts believe this factor is currently limiting stronger price growth. For a sustainable upward trend to form, accumulation by large participants must be accompanied by an increase in their share of total supply.
Meanwhile, traders noted that the current dynamics reflect a typical market cycle structure. During periods of uncertainty, retail investors tend to take profits or sell assets due to fear of further decline, while large players use price dips to accumulate positions.
