Crypto Exchange Coinbase to Launch Its Own Prediction Platform
Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is working on creating a website for a prediction platform. This information was published by tech researcher and blogger Jane Manchun Wong, known for discovering in-development features on major tech platforms.
She shared screenshots accompanied by a caption stating that Coinbase is “working on a prediction market.”
One screenshot indicates that the product will be offered by Coinbase’s derivatives division, Coinbase Financial Markets, “through Kalshi,” suggesting that the service will rely on Kalshi’s regulatory framework. Other images show the interface of a prediction market that appears to allow users to trade using USDC or U.S. dollars. Categories include economics, sports, science, politics, and technology.
The company previously expressed interest in prediction markets as part of its plan to evolve into a “universal exchange.” On November 13, Coinbase and Kalshi announced a partnership that will allow Coinbase to serve as a custodian for Kalshi’s USDC-based contracts.
Recently, Crypto.com launched a prediction market product in partnership with Trump Media, while Gemini announced plans to create a similar platform as part of its upcoming app.
This interest from crypto companies is unsurprising. Prediction markets have become one of the most popular crypto offerings this year, with trading volumes on platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket rising sharply.
