Gemini surpasses Coinbase in popularity after launching the XRP Mastercard credit card

The cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, founded by the Winklevoss twins, has overtaken Coinbase in the AppStore after launching a credit card with XRP cashback in partnership with Ripple Labs and Mastercard.

This limited-edition card instantly returns up to 4% in XRP. “No need to wait, just accumulate,” Gemini wrote in a social media post on Monday.

Data from Sensor Tower shows that following this announcement, Gemini surpassed Coinbase in the ranking of financial apps in the U.S. Gemini currently holds 11th place, while Coinbase sits at 20th.

“A credit card with XRP rewards has appeared worldwide?! What a wonderful time, XRP family,” noted Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

Indeed, this event can be considered significant not only for the crypto community but also for Gemini itself, since Coinbase’s daily trading volume is more than three times higher than Gemini’s.

Currently, Coinbase ranks third among crypto exchanges by trading volume — with $4.54 billion worth of transactions in the past 24 hours. Gemini is in 24th place with $382.49 million.
