BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager with nearly $13 trillion in assets under management, has included bitcoin among its key investment themes for 2025, alongside U.S. Treasury bills and shares of major American technology companies.

At the center of its “Investing in 2025” outlook is IBIT — the iShares Bitcoin Trust exchange-traded fund from BlackRock. IBIT was highlighted alongside the SGOV ETF, which tracks short-term U.S. Treasury bills, and the TOPT ETF, focused on America’s largest technology companies.

BlackRock named its bitcoin ETF as one of the main investment themes for 2025, indicating that the firm remains confident in bitcoin even amid strong performance from traditional safe-haven assets such as gold.

Despite bitcoin falling by roughly 30% from its October peak in 2025, investors continue to allocate capital to IBIT. This year alone, the fund has attracted more than $25 billion in net inflows.

According to market data, IBIT currently ranks sixth among all ETFs by inflows in 2025. Since its launch in January 2024, total net inflows into IBIT have reached approximately $62.5 billion, far exceeding those of competing spot bitcoin ETFs.

As of December 19, 2025, the fund held more than 775,000 BTC, allowing BlackRock to gain control over a significant share of bitcoins held within exchange-traded products worldwide.

BlackRock's IBIT Fund Lost $440 Million Amid 11-Day Bitcoin ETF Outflow Streak

At the beginning of June, flows into cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) showed a defensive trend: Bitcoin-focused funds lost nearly half a billion dollars, while Ethereum-based products extended their outflow streak to 15 trading days. At the same time, $XRP and $HYPE ETFs once again attracted fresh capital, indicating that investors are still making selective bets beyond the largest crypto assets.
