Nasdaq and S&P 500 Near Record Highs as Hopes for Trump-Iran Deal Lift Markets
U.S. stock index futures moved closer to record territory after reports suggested that Washington and Tehran may be advancing toward a possible peace agreement tied to Iran’s nuclear negotiations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to data from analyst Bull Theory, Nasdaq 100 E-mini futures climbed to around 29,758 points, gaining roughly 199 points or 0.67% during the session. The move pushed the index within close reach of new all-time highs following a strong uptrend above the 28,000 range.
S&P 500 E-mini futures rose about 37.5 points, or 0.50%, trading near 7,528 as bullish momentum continued across the market. Futures approached the 7,530 level after breaking above the 7,200 range, while the broader trend continued to form higher highs and higher lows. A brief consolidation phase suggested short-term profit-taking before buyers regained control.
Iran Talks Remain the Main Focus
The market rally followed renewed attention on discussions between the United States and Iran regarding a possible temporary agreement tied to nuclear negotiations and regional stability. President Donald Trump said on social media that talks remain “constructive,” but added that both sides “must take their time and get it right.”
The proposed agreement reportedly includes a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and further negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear programme. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that a “very significant decision” remains on the table involving shipping access through the strait and additional nuclear discussions.
Iranian officials also reported progress over the weekend. According to reports, three senior Iranian officials stated that Tehran had agreed to a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz without duties or fees. Later, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that Iran “seeks peace through strength” while continuing diplomatic efforts.
