Cryptocurrency Bitcoin Price Today: Drops to $113.7K Amid Trump–Xi Meeting

Bitcoin edged lower on Tuesday as its recent rebound paused amid growing caution ahead of high-level talks between the U.S. and China, as well as the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting later this week.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency fell 1.6% to $113,760.2 as of 9:47 a.m. Moscow time, with profit-taking seen after Monday’s rebound to around $116,000.

Focus on Fed Rate Cut and Trump–Xi Talks

Markets turned cautious ahead of the Fed’s two-day meeting, widely expected to cut interest rates by at least 25 basis points on Wednesday.

Expectations for a rate cut strengthened after last week’s consumer inflation data came in slightly below forecasts, showing that inflation remains mostly subdued. Combined with signs of a cooling labor market, this has maintained market sentiment for further Fed easing — a scenario generally bullish for crypto assets.

Attention also remains on the upcoming talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, scheduled for this week. The two leaders are expected to discuss a framework trade deal aimed at easing tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

Prospects of rate cuts and a U.S.–China trade agreement have been key drivers behind the recent crypto rally, which helped Bitcoin break out of its $100,000–$110,000 trading range seen through most of October.

Metaplanet to Buy Back $500 Million Worth of Shares

Japanese hotel-turned-bitcoin-treasury firm Metaplanet Inc (TYO:3350) announced Tuesday it will repurchase up to 13.13% of its shares, worth about ¥75 billion ($500 million).

Metaplanet’s shares rose over 6% in Tokyo trading after the announcement, continuing their recovery from a six-month low.

The company said it will finance the buyback through $500 million in debt financing.

Metaplanet is the fourth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with 30,823 BTC in its reserves. The company ramped up its cryptocurrency purchases over the past year through multiple capital raises.

However, growing doubts over the long-term sustainability of corporate bitcoin treasuries have weighed on its shares in recent months — by early October, Metaplanet’s enterprise value had fallen below the value of its bitcoin holdings.

Crypto Prices Today: Ethereum Drops on Corporate Selling, Altcoins Retreat

XRP fell 1.1%, BNB dropped 2.6%, while Cardano (ADA) and Solana (SOL) lost 2.5–4%.
Among meme tokens, Dogecoin dropped 4.6%, while $TRUMP gained 8.5%.
