$NEAR recovered by roughly 20% from its recent low, outperforming other digital assets that are still struggling to recover. Market analyst Michaël van de Poppe called the token one of the strongest assets in the market and linked its next move to Bitcoin’s performance.
$NEAR stood out sharply against the backdrop of a weak crypto market. While the total capitalisation of digital assets fell by 3.7%, the Near Protocol token gained almost 20% over 24 hours and climbed to $2.75.
The $NEAR Protocol blockchain will implement post-quantum cryptography measures by the end of Q2 2026, meaning as early as this month. This was stated by the project’s co-founder Illia Polosukhin.
Despite experiencing a strong post-rally correction, Near is getting close to a potentially significant technical milestone. Few traders anticipated a potential golden cross formation just weeks ago, but the chart now shows the 50-day moving average quickly rising toward the 200-day moving average.
According to Arthur Hayes, co-founder of the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX, the native token of NEAR Protocol, $NEAR, could increase in price 20-fold by 2027. He said this on The Rollup podcast, linking $NEAR’s prospects to growing investor demand for confidential cryptocurrencies.
NEAR Protocol and its native token rallied sharply amid a combination of short liquidations, renewed interest in AI-related crypto assets, and rising fee revenue from its cross-chain infrastructure. Over the past seven days, NEAR Protocol gained around 50% and climbed toward the $2.73 level.
On Sunday, the price of the $NEAR Protocol token hovered around $2.41, posting gains of approximately 54% over the past seven days and 13% over the last 24 hours. The move was driven by a combination of factors occurring simultaneously: a short squeeze, rotation into the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, and growing interest in products enabling blockchain abstraction.
The value of NEAR Protocol surged by 30% to a daily high of $2.25, marking a gain of more than 70% since the beginning of May and briefly pushing its market capitalisation above $2.9 billion.
The developers of NEAR Protocol announced that the network has achieved a throughput of 1 million transactions per second (TPS) in a publicly verifiable benchmark. The team used real nearcore code and standard machines with 8-core CPUs, demonstrating that scaling does not require expensive infrastructure. The test was conducted across 70 shards, which made it possible to evaluate real efficiency. All data and scripts have been made publicly available so that any team can manually verify the results.
