Bitcoin today: rises above $71K amid mixed signals
Bitcoin rose on Wednesday, holding above the $71,000 level as investors weighed ongoing tensions in the Middle East alongside early signs of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency was trading 1% higher at $71,197.8 as of 06:27 GMT.
Earlier this week, Bitcoin had fallen below $70,000 as escalating conflict triggered a broad risk-off sentiment and pressured digital assets.
Israel strikes Tehran despite Trump’s talk of negotiations
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Washington was “currently in talks” with Iran, adding that Tehran was “speaking reasonably” and appeared open to a peace agreement.
Reports that the U.S. had presented Iran with a 15-point proposal to end the conflict further supported hopes of de-escalation.
At the same time, conflicting developments kept investors cautious. Media reports indicated that Israel struck Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Wednesday, highlighting the fragility of any diplomatic progress.
Oil prices declined on Wednesday, partially reversing recent gains as traders priced in a potential easing of supply risks in the region. The drop in crude oil supported broader risk appetite.
Cryptocurrencies are increasingly moving in line with global risk sentiment, reacting to geopolitical tensions and energy market developments. Earlier losses coincided with a surge in oil prices.
U.S. stock index futures rose during Wednesday’s Asian session, while Asian equities also posted gains.
Despite the volatile backdrop, Bitcoin showed resilience around the $70,000 level. Analysts pointed to ongoing institutional interest and improved liquidity conditions as key factors supporting prices.
