Tether announces purchase of a large amount of Bitcoin (BTC)!
Tether, one of the largest stablecoin issuers in the cryptocurrency market, continues its Bitcoin accumulation strategy. It is reported that 951 BTC (approximately $70.47 million) was withdrawn from a reserve address linked to the company via Bitfinex.
This transfer is said to be part of the company’s acquisition plan for the first quarter of 2026.
Tether has been steadily accumulating Bitcoin since 2023, consistently allocating around 15% of its profits to purchasing BTC during this period. The company’s typical strategy involves withdrawing assets from Bitfinex at the end of each quarter and transferring them to its own reserve addresses.
With this latest transaction, Tether’s total Bitcoin holdings have reached 97,141 BTC. This amount is currently valued at approximately $7.2 billion. According to blockchain data, the company has become the fifth-largest holder of Bitcoin.
On the other hand, among private companies, Block.one ranks first in Bitcoin reserves with approximately 164,000 BTC, while Tether remains among the leaders following this purchase. Other notable organizations on the list include Stone Ridge Holdings Group, SpaceX, and the Tezos Foundation.
