Tron Issues $1 Billion in USDT: The Most Significant Issuance in the Network's History

Tron continues to strengthen its position in the stablecoin sector: in 2025 alone, $23 billion worth of USDT has already been issued on the network, including the recent $1 billion issuance. This makes the current year the most active for Tether issuance since 2021. The total USDT in circulation has reached $81.7 billion, with Tron firmly holding the lead in the number of issued tokens.

However, the latest issuance differs from previous ones, according to CryptoQuant. Although the transaction has been processed and the tokens transferred, they have not yet been deployed on the network. Hash data shows the funds were sent to a multi-signature wallet and are awaiting final authorization. Notably, no transaction fees were paid when transferring the $1 billion, indicating special conditions for this issuance.

Analysts believe this is an “inventory replenishment” — a so-called "authorized but not issued" issuance. These transactions are approved by Tether but the tokens are not released into circulation until further instructions are given. Therefore, this release is not yet visible in public on-chain statistics.

Amid the recent Nasdaq listing of Tron.inc, the event gains additional significance. According to Justin Sun, the company has filed an S-3 form with the SEC — a document allowing public offering of securities. Among the proposed instruments are stocks, bonds, and other hybrid products totaling $1 billion — exactly matching the size of the new USDT issuance.

“This suggests that the stablecoin issuance is part of a broader financial strategy that integrates traditional financial instruments with cryptocurrency. Tron is becoming one of the first projects attempting to build a bridge between the stock market and stablecoin infrastructure at the corporate governance level,” experts said.

If the hypothesis proves true, this $1 billion USDT issuance could set a precedent for the entire industry. Tron has demonstrated how digital asset issuance can be used within the U.S. regulatory framework, embedding them into traditional capital market mechanisms.

Since the Beginning of 2026, Tether Has Frozen $1.4 Billion in USDT. How Is This Possible?

In less than five months of 2026, the issuer of the largest stablecoin, $USDT — Tether — froze more than $1.4 billion worth of users’ $USDT assets. This is an absolute annual record and accounts for more than 25% of the total amount of frozen assets since 2017. The increase in frozen assets in recent years coincided with the creation in 2024 of the specialised organisation T3 (T3 FCU), formed by Tether, the Tron blockchain team, and analytics company TRM Labs.

Traders Are Moving Into Stablecoins and Not Returning. What’s Happening?

The share of stablecoins in the crypto market remains high even during periods of Bitcoin growth. Traders are increasingly taking profits and choosing not to re-enter risk assets. Just a few years ago, stablecoins were primarily used as temporary instruments. Funds were converted into USDT or USDC before trades and then quickly moved back into the market.
