Kraken’s tokenized stock platform launches a points reward program

The xStocks platform, which uses tokenized stocks and is connected to Kraken, plans to launch a rewards program for traders, liquidity providers, and DeFi developers who use its tokenized stocks on the blockchain.

The initiative, called xPoints, will track activity across supported trading venues and various integrations. Participants will be able to earn points by trading tokenized U.S. stocks, providing liquidity, or using assets in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

Points-based reward programs have become a common strategy in the cryptocurrency industry to encourage early adoption of new platforms. In many cases, projects later convert accumulated points into governance tokens or other ecosystem rewards.

Although xStocks has not yet announced a token, the initiative could pave the way for a potential token launch in the future.

xStocks stated that the points program is designed to support long-term participation in the ecosystem’s development. While details have not yet been disclosed, participants who accumulate points may gain access to future platform-related benefits once the program concludes.

This move comes as tokenized stocks have become one of the fastest-growing sectors in the cryptocurrency industry. According to RWA.xyz, the total value locked in this category currently exceeds $1 billion, having tripled over the past six months.

xStocks reported that transaction volume for its tokenized stocks has exceeded $25 billion over the eight months since launch, expanding across multiple blockchain networks.

Traditional financial companies are also showing growing interest in tokenized stocks. Earlier this week, Nasdaq announced plans to partner with Kraken to distribute tokenized versions of stocks to investors outside the United States. This initiative is part of the exchange operator’s broader effort to introduce blockchain infrastructure into capital markets.
