Ethereum Sets New Record for Number of Transactions
Arkham explained the sharp increase in TPS by the integration of the Layer-2 solution Lighter. It uses zero-knowledge (ZK) rollups designed to enhance the network’s throughput. The second-fastest Layer-2 solution remains Base, processing 100–300 transactions per second.
The average daily TPS in the Ethereum ecosystem reached 325 yesterday, November 2, compared to 250 at the beginning of the year. Upcoming network upgrades, such as PeerDAS, are expected to further increase Ethereum’s throughput.
Arkham also highlighted the recent increase of the gas limit in Ethereum blocks from 45 million to 60 million. It took effect on November 25 after being approved by validators. This change effectively doubled the blockchain’s capacity compared to last year’s levels.
