Major U.S. Bank PNC Launches Cryptocurrency Trading Services

Emma Loftus, head of PNC’s treasury management, told Bloomberg Tax that cryptocurrency trading will initially be available to clients of the bank’s investment offices that manage assets.

PNC clients will be able to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, directly through their bank accounts, eliminating the need to open crypto wallets or accounts on third-party exchanges.

Through a Crypto-as-a-Service partnership with Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN), PNC aims to reduce risk and avoid infrastructure costs. In return, PNC will provide banking services to Coinbase, including settlement operations.

According to PNC Financial, the bank and Coinbase spent nearly four years preparing for the crypto rollout since the initial announcement.
