Over $3.9B in Tokens to Be Unlocked in October

In October, the crypto market will see the release of Aster, Sui, Aptos, Arbitrum, and Zora tokens worth more than $3.9 billion. While large unlocks often create selling pressure, analysts believe this time the outlook may be more optimistic.

The largest unlock will come from Aster (ASTER) on October 5, with $503.58 million in tokens set to be released — 4% of its market cap (320 million tokens).

On October 1, nearly $180.40 million worth of SUI tokens entered circulation (0.57% of market cap). A few days later, Ethena (ENA) will release $51.23 million (0.63%).

Other notable unlocks include:

  • Plasma (XPL) — $90.06M on Oct 25

  • pump.fun (PUMP) — $54.82M on Oct 14

  • STBL and Arbitrum (ARB) — $81.05M and $37.71M on Oct 16

  • Aptos (APT) — $47.96M on Oct 12

  • LayerZero (ZRO) — $49.23M on Oct 20

  • Zora (ZORA) — $41.91M on Oct 23.

JPMorgan Says Stablecoins Continue to Hold an Advantage Over Tokenised Money Market Funds

In a new report, JPMorgan Chase stated that tokenised money market funds still account for only around 5% of the total stablecoin market despite their ability to generate yield. The bank noted that participants in the cryptocurrency market continue to prefer stablecoins because they have become the primary monetary instrument of the ecosystem for trading, collateral management, settlements, cross-border payments, and liquidity management across centralised exchanges (CEXs) and decentralised finance (DeFi) protocols.

Bloomberg: SEC to Allow Trading of Tokenized Stocks Without Issuer Consent

The mechanism would allow companies to experiment with tokenized stocks without immediately violating US securities laws. According to Bloomberg’s sources, the SEC is considering allowing the trading of tokens created by third parties without approval from the stock issuers themselves.
