Payments Giant Visa Launches USDC Stablecoin Settlements for U.S. Clients

Visa Inc has taken another step in promoting stablecoins by launching USDC settlements in the United States. This means that U.S. issuers and acquiring partners can now settle transactions with Visa in USDC issued by Circle, a dollar-pegged stablecoin.

According to the press release, the offering is available 24/7, and also “features enhanced operational resilience on weekends and holidays.” As a result, users do not need to worry about potential issues with card usage during these periods.

The first participants are Cross River Bank and Lead Bank. They have already begun settling in USDC on the Solana blockchain, with broader adoption expected in 2026.

This news follows the launch in late October by USDC issuer Circle of a public testnet for its Layer-1 blockchain Arc, which involved more than 100 major partners, including Visa, Mastercard, BlackRock, and Goldman Sachs. A Visa representative noted that the company is a development partner of the network, which “delivers the performance and scalability required to support the company’s global commercial operations.”

Visa also stated that it plans to use Arc for USDC settlements within its network and to operate a network node.

Financial institutions are seeking faster and programmable settlement options that can be easily integrated with their existing treasury operations, said Rubail Birwadker, head of growth products and strategic partnerships at the payments giant.

Recently, Visa has been actively expanding into the stablecoin sector. On Monday, December 15, the company announced the launch of a stablecoin advisory practice within Visa Consulting & Analytics. The new unit will work directly with banks, fintech companies, merchants, and global corporations, helping them assess market opportunities, develop go-to-market strategies, and build and deploy digital asset–based solutions.
