Ripple Warns of New XRP Scam Schemes
Ripple has recorded a surge in fraudulent activity targeting XRP holders and urged the community to stay vigilant.
Following the Ripple Swell event, scammers became more active, using fake videos and hacked accounts. Ripple reported on social network X that it had identified a new fraud scheme related to the Ripple Swell event. The scheme targets XRP users, prompting the company to publish a post urging the community to be cautious. Ripple stated:
“We’ve noticed a sharp rise in fake YouTube livestreams during and after Swell. Reminder: Ripple will NEVER ask you to send us XRP. Stay alert!”
The company emphasized that major industry events like Ripple Swell regularly trigger coordinated scam attacks. It also reminded users of a warning issued in July, highlighting incidents where YouTube accounts were hacked to impersonate Ripple’s official channel. That message stated:
“We’ve seen an increase in XRP scams on YouTube — bad actors are stealing accounts and disguising them as the official Ripple channel. Reminder: neither Ripple nor our executives will EVER ask you to send us XRP.”
Growing XRP popularity attracts scammers
XRP gained strong momentum after Ripple Swell and several new company announcements. More large organizations, including Evernorth, are developing treasury solutions based on XRP, increasing attention toward the asset. The launch of the first pure spot XRP ETF has also intensified discussions about its role in institutional portfolios.
The growing interest in XRP has inevitably led to an increase in scam schemes. Ripple stresses the importance of verifying information sources, while experts note that better educational initiatives and more reliable verification tools will help improve user safety.
