U.S. Democrats Declare ‘Crypto Corruption Week’ Against Trump
Representatives of the U.S. Democratic Party, led by Maxine Waters and Stephen Lynch, have declared the upcoming week as "Crypto Corruption Week" in an effort to block the GENIUS, CLARITY, and anti-CBDC cryptocurrency bills.
They are concerned that these bills will pave the way for what they call Donald Trump's crypto corruption. According to Waters, the proposed laws lack critical consumer protection and national security safeguards.
“Crypto Corruption Week” is a response to the previously declared “Crypto Week” by Republican members of the House of Representatives.
“By passing these bills, Republicans are putting our financial stability, national security, and consumer protections at even greater risk,” Waters said.
She believes the bills would make Congress an accomplice in Trump’s unprecedented crypto scheme. Waters claims that Trump’s goal is to enrich himself, his family, and the billionaires in his cabinet at the expense of investors.
Furthermore, she called the bills “a blatant endorsement of blatant abuse of power.” According to Waters, Trump has already earned $1.2 billion from digital assets.
“My Republican colleagues continue to do the bidding of the crypto industry while ignoring the vulnerabilities and opportunities for abuse that exist in the crypto space.”
“Our message is clear: we will not allow the financial system to become a tool for fraud, lawlessness, and abuse of power. The stakes have never been higher — for consumers, investors, and our democracy,” Waters concluded.
