Michael Saylor believes that the period of Bitcoin’s decline is already behind us

In an interview with real estate mogul Grant Cardone, MicroStrategy chairman Michael Saylor said that Bitcoin has finally stabilized and is ready for a new phase of growth, as “most of the liquidation selling is happening outside the system.”

During the conversation, Cardone asked Saylor about the future direction of Bitcoin’s price and how low it might fall in the current cycle. Saylor replied that the market, on the contrary, is strengthening around current levels, and the leading cryptocurrency will continue to rise because the worst is already behind us.

If you are making decisions on a time horizon of up to 12 months, you are a trader… I have nothing to advise you, Saylor emphasized. But if you are an entrepreneur or an investor, you should operate with a time horizon of four years or longer — from four to ten years.

Saylor explained that the company turned to Bitcoin in 2020 as protection against the collapse of cash yields, adding that the firm’s treasury assets of $500 million had effectively fallen to zero in real yield when interest rates dropped during the pandemic era.

The top executive is confident that Bitcoin’s limited supply and global liquidity profile make it an excellent alternative to traditional cash reserves. He recalled that the company bought Bitcoin at roughly $11,800, after which the price immediately fell to $9,600. He called this move instructive, stressing that owning Bitcoin requires long-term conviction rather than expecting immediate profit.

Many people, like Cardone, are probably wondering under what circumstances MicroStrategy’s position could be at risk. Michael Saylor is certain that the company will not face balance-sheet risk unless Bitcoin falls by more than 90% from current prices — something he considers unrealistic.
