This Altcoin Is Safer Than Bitcoin Against Quantum Threats!
Recent concerns about advances in quantum technology have become an important and widely discussed topic in the cryptocurrency market.
While it has been stated that this issue is significant and requires immediate action, one organization claims that $XRP is better protected against quantum computing threats than Bitcoin.
According to Coindesk, an $XRP Ledger validator stated that $XRP is more resistant to quantum computers than Bitcoin (BTC).
At this point, Vet, a validator of the $XRP Ledger, said that the architecture of $XRP is more secure than Bitcoin, even in the face of quantum threats.
Vet explained that the security vulnerability related to quantum technology arises from the exposure of public keys during fund transfers.
Theoretically, such transactions could allow a quantum computer to derive a private key and steal assets.
According to Vet’s analysis, currently between 2.3 million and 7.8 million bitcoins, or 11% to 37% of the total circulating supply, are considered “quantum vulnerable” due to direct exposure of their public keys.
Additionally, securing these funds requires moving them to a new address; this process temporarily exposes the public key, creating an opportunity for a quantum attack.
In response, Vet stated that only about 21 million $XRP, or 0.03% of the total circulating supply, have exposed public keys. At this stage, Vet reported that, based on blockchain analysis, funds from approximately 300,000 $XRP Ledger accounts have never been moved, meaning their public keys have not been exposed.
It was also noted that the $XRP Ledger (XRPL) is relatively more resistant to such threats, as it allows changing an account’s signing key without moving the underlying funds.
