Long-term Investors Continue to Take Profits Amid BTC Price Growth

Over the past 30 days, the ratio of long-term to short-term Bitcoin holders (LTH/STH Ratio) has decreased by 11%. This indicates that experienced investors have gradually been selling their holdings, passing assets into the hands of new market participants. Similar behavior was observed ahead of previous all-time highs.

The drop in the ratio reflects a steady redistribution structure. Increased activity among short-term holders raises the chances of price volatility. These participants are less resilient to market fluctuations, which may lead to price swings in the near future.

Despite bullish signals from the MACD indicator and ongoing inflows into ETFs, the market remains cautious. This view was shared by experts at Glassnode, who noted that the price consolidation following the recent ATH suggests a pause in growth—one that could be intensified by seasonal and macroeconomic factors. Institutional purchases are currently offsetting sell-offs, but the risk of a short-term correction persists.

Analytical models are already capturing the growing influence of retail holders on the market structure. This typically occurs ahead of strong price impulses. However, such transitional phases are often accompanied by profit-taking and uncertainty among new investors.

Researchers highlight that the key feature of the current cycle is that redistribution is occurring primarily through institutional channels. Over $1 billion per day continues to flow into ETF products. This helps stabilize the market and ease pressure from retail investors.

Nevertheless, a "moment of truth" may be approaching. It remains unclear whether new holders will have the patience to retain their assets if the market pulls back. Long-term investors have already started taking profits, and much now depends on how the more emotionally driven participants react.
