Donald Trump Turns Out to Be One of the World’s Largest Bitcoin Investors
U.S. President Donald Trump has turned out to be one of the world’s largest Bitcoin investors, having poured hundreds of millions of dollars into the cryptocurrency.
Information about Trump’s BTC holdings is not publicly disclosed, as he owns the coins indirectly through his company Truth Social.
In May 2025, the firm raised $2.3 billion in funding and spent $2 billion in July to purchase Bitcoin.
Trump controls 41% of the company’s stock, meaning he effectively owns BTC worth about $910 million, since the cryptocurrency has appreciated by 11% since the purchase.
Only six people surpass Trump in Bitcoin investment volume:
-
Satoshi Nakamoto — $126.5 billion in BTC
-
Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss — $8 billion
-
Michael Saylor — $7.2 billion
-
Tim Draper — $3.6 billion (Bitcoins bought at the Silk Road auction)
-
Matthew Roszak — over $1 billion
In addition, the U.S. President owns his own memecoins — OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) and World Liberty Financial (WLFI) tokens — worth around $2 billion, issued by World Liberty Financial, co-founded by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr.
Thus, Trump’s total digital asset portfolio is estimated at no less than $2.91 billion.
