Bybit prevented fake deposit attacks worth over $1 billion

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit stated that its Group Risk Control team detected and blocked a series of coordinated fake deposit attacks across multiple blockchains. Potential losses were estimated at more than 1 billion DOT (approximately $1.3 billion at the time of writing). All incidents were neutralized in real time — no erroneous fund credits were recorded.

Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has started blocking accounts of users from Russia. The restrictions affected around ten addresses holding a total of more than 50 million rubles. The largest blocked account contains over 500,000 USDT.

Bybit exchange to cease providing services to residents of Japan

In an official statement, the platform announced the start of sending notifications to users whom the system has identified as residents of Japan. The notice states that services for Japanese users will be discontinued, and starting in 2026, phased restrictions on access to accounts and exchange services will be applied to them.

Bybit researchers revealed which blockchains support fund freezing

A new report from Bybit’s Lazarus Security Lab showed that many major blockchains are not fully decentralized and trustworthy. According to the analysis, 16 leading blockchains, including Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), BNB Chain (BNB), and Polygon (POL), contain code that allows developers or governing bodies to freeze users’ funds.

Bybit Halts New User Registrations in Japan
