Unexpected statements from Iran in the Iran–U.S. conflict! “The Strait of Hormuz cannot remain open under current conditions”
As diplomatic negotiations continue over a possible resolution of the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, new noteworthy statements have emerged from Tehran.
Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf sharply criticized the rhetoric of the U.S. administration and issued clear signals regarding the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
Ghalibaf intensified criticism of Washington, stating that all seven recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump were “false.” He explicitly said that the Strait of Hormuz would not remain open if the current naval blockade continues.
He also noted that passage through the strait will not be completely free, emphasizing that shipping will only be allowed via “designated routes” and “with Iran’s permission.”
Meanwhile, developments throughout the day increased uncertainty. Although Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the strait is open, reports indicated that 10 to 20 vessels attempted to pass through it, but the majority turned back. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly insisted that the strait remains effectively closed.
According to diplomatic sources, Tehran has informed mediators that it will restrict ship passage and impose certain fees as part of the ceasefire process. Iran also firmly denied claims that it would transfer enriched uranium to the United States.
Additionally, new information has emerged regarding negotiations: sources close to Iran say that no agreement has yet been reached with the U.S. on the next round of talks.
